Red House Farm has been in the Margrett/Powell family for four generations. Ruth and Jon Powell have been running the farm since 2005. During that time, they have been busy expanding the business into new areas, such as Camp Elmwicke and Shop Elmwicke, and growing their flock of Jacob sheep from 8 ewes to a flock of 130.
In 2014 we introduced Daffodil and Eve (Gloucester cattle) to the farm, along with a couple of "Dexters", Dickie and Daisy. Daffodil and Eve calved for the first time in December 2015, and we welcomed Angel and Advent, two heffer calves to the world. On May 8th 2016, Violet our Dexter heffer had a gorgeous bull calf called Arthur.
The plan is to continue the growth of the farm, by introducing other rare breed livestock in the years to come.
For the third year running, we have prepared sheepkins, and there will potentially be a couple for sale from June 2016.
Ruth and Jon have three daughters, who are all showing an early interest in the great outdoors, and proving to be very useful around the farm!
